Examples of schools that have worked with large scale projects

Larger scale topics such as community well-being, social justice, community fitness, active democracy, transportation issues, energy consumption issues, solid waste management are several of the topics which lead to involvement in large scale projects.

Marine and Inter-tidal Studies explore changes to inter-tidal ecosystems: These studies provide information to specific communities and inform broader scale analysis that gives indications about the state of the ocean environment.

Experiential Science studies in marine environments have included population studies (with a focus on the development of exotics ie. the varnish clam), inter-tidal zone transects in different types of shorelines, food web analysis in inter-tidal zones,  benthic studies with a focus on changes between benthic populations under booming areas, under fish farms and in open areas.  We have been conducting many of these studies in conjunction with the Cowichan Bay Marine Ecology Station, on SaltSpring Island and along the BC and Alaskan Coastline.

This page is under development.  We are looking for additional information about the topic and examples of schools activities that have been conducted.  We would like your help in completing this page.  Please make a comment on the blog or contact us by e-mail.  We really look forward to your comments.
